OMG....I'm so stinking excited to share I signed a lease on a small creative healing studio in downtown Las Vegas. I'm beyond excited for this new chapter of life. My dream has been to start my own private practice where I offer financial counseling, book clubs, workshops and even photo shoots! This creative space will allow for me to operate out of all the parts of who I am: a creative + a numbers girl. You see I've gotten even clearer on my vision for the work I do....so here it is: "I help BIWOC creatives heal with money and build purpose-driven businesses." As someone who has been in the creative sector for over 20years, I understand the challenges many of us creatives face as we try to build profitable and purposeful businesses. I understand the struggle between honoring our worth and value while also needing to get paid. I also get the struggle of needing content and how to tell who you are and the work you do authentically. This is why the both/and is so needed in this space.
What am I dreaming of?
1. Building a creative community.
I'm dreaming of building an intentional community of creatives in Las Vegas. I have always had a deep commitment to gathering a diverse group of women to experience a sense of connection and belonging.
2. Have a seperation of work and home life.
Yall for the past year, I've been working from home, and I've been on the struggle bus, with no private space. Like for real, I've been working in the sala on our sofa. And while I like the ease of simply going downstairs for work, I thrive in having my work home-life separate. I'm looking forward to when I'm home, I'm just mom and wife. I've missed this rthymn the most.
3. A space to host gatherings.
I have so much in mind like a personal finance book club for Latinas, networking events, art as therapy and so much more. Having my own space will allow for me to host small gatherings of up to 20 women.
4. A dedicated content space.
Another challenge I've faced has been creating content in my home. With three kids, asking them to be quiet while I record podcast episodes and social content has been hard. If I'm honest, I've just chosen not to do as much content as a result.
5. Creating my own table to heal.
They often say, if you aren't being invited to the table, create your own. I want to create a table for our creativity to be seen and experienced. But most of all to use creativity as a healing tool. For me that's through photography, and art as therapy. I want to invite other creatives to lead and guide us through their creative process and heal collectively.
It's it for now! What other questions do you have for me? I'll be sharing more as I prepare the studio launch date. I'm hoping to do a grand opening too!
xoxo-
